Apples

Are you smelling my laundry?

No.  Maybe.

I wanted to see if it was ready to fold
                 or ready for washing.  Na'mean?

You can skip me.  That's fine.

I wanted to make you happy.

You can skip me.  It's fine.

I didn't want you to be upset.

You can skip me.  I don't care.
I'll be back later when you're done
                                    with your clothes.

                Okay.

Don't steal my underwear.

                I won't.

Promise.

                I promise.

That you?

I promise I will not steal your underwear.

                                  Okay.  Good.  And thanks,
You've a good heart.  Just try
to be a little less thorough
it gets creepy as hell sometimes
                                  when you pay attention to...

                                                                           (I have to)

Grind House

You put it well when you agreed
Cindy Crawford would look better
with a dislocated
face obsession.

Hardware is not easy to come by.
Hardware does not surface typically
for grabs.

Scavenger, I!
Eater, I!
Builder, I do not know where
I found you or where I can continue to go
when the fix is in and I am backed into

Can we go down to the river tomorrow?
I want to look at the stars
and burn some things
and enjoy company
beyond the ghosts behind eyelids.

One Finger

Driving home, headlights spring new from the snow
compacted against the sides of homes.
Bright windows made brighter.
Hang your head
out of the driver side and scream
something unintelligible.

Dock.  And think about the several dozen times
could have's turned into did nots across the double yellow.

How fun would it be
to somersault and stick the landing.

How fun would it be
to make the outsides match the insides.

How hilarious would it be
to have spilled everything after keeping too much in hand.

Kick the emergency brake and shut off the headlights.
Over the river and through the woods,
touching fingertips to a stray checking the mailbox at stoop
in the dead heat of versus winter,
remember the feel of knuckles on brick
and cat nose on knuckles opposite hand
and it's cool snot.

Remember you are as snotty
as any silver spooned piece of garbage
and remember
there is a dimension you will never see
where you take care of them
too.
