Violence is the base of all language,
but the expression of love and hate
require very different kinds.
The learning which and when and what
doors to open is the easy part,
because there are things
burdensome to be held known
in hands you want
to love you a little more and
trust you like a brother
when they don't already
know where you've been and who with.
The learning which and when and what
kind of violence
will speak your heart and connect your minds
is the hard part. The part
I keep getting wrong,
but I am getting warmer.
